It was for the lulz...

Well, I just got back from work... Yes, it's a first for me to work on saturdays, I haven't done that since I've left school in mid-2005. So far, this job proves to be okay. Atmosphere's nice enough (for now), commute times are far more manageable than before (about half an hour, though 2 bus lines) and I have the statisfaction of seeing the results of my work on TV every morning...
The pay, well, let's say that this month being still a tryout for my skills, I'll only be paid as much as my first full-time job did. If I perform well enough though, that amount will permanently double as soon as next month (for those wondering, that'll be $300 US per month, about fifty bucks more than the highest wages I've ever earned so far)
The hours... erm, a bit unusual for me. It's about 50 hours spread on six days each week... I've never worked beyond an average of 40 weeks hours before... if you don't count that Catholic school over ten years ago. Hope it won't be too much of a problem in the long run though.

On other news... My Grandma became a great-grandmother this week, for the first time. My cousin Carine did indeed give birth to a small girl. Too bad I probably won't see her for a few more months (years?) as she was born in France. Oh well, I'll just have to be careful about being the target of continuous insinuations that I should have been a father before she became a mother, and should rectify that soon.

Last thing, summer is in full swing now, meaning that I regularly expend my clothes faster than our laundry system can clean them. My "heat-allergy" is striking again, too. You know, when the top of my feet itch so much, I can't keep scratching them until they're close to bleeding and then the pain comes almost as a relief as it drowns the itching... ugh.

Hmm? What else... oh well, I guess it's all for now.

I wish the Avatars would have been more like Kimahri, though.

In other side, I might or might not review it, but the Toruk Makto is while so big, pretty much reminding me to kite. Toruk Makto is a big, huge, GIGANTIC living kite.

And the way they do the ceremonials to remove the soul is pretty much reminding me to Bali.

Well in the morning I will be heading back to the UK for a small break, just the small matter of a 7-hour flight to get through but after that it'll be nice to be back home to see some family, friends and make a fuss of my kitties while I can!

Not sure if it'll be snowing when I arrive given the weather reports but considering the Dubai heat a bit of ice and cold will be a nice change for me really... X3

In terms of art I won't be working on any while I'm home, however I do have a few things ready to upload progressively to compensate for this and I will be resuming work on my pending requests and other items on my to-do list once I'm back in Dubai in the new year, so expect to see lots more from me then!

As for Youtube & UStream I'll also resume activity there in the new year, the same goes for the "Artist of the Week" feature which will restart the first week of January based on the nominations I received from you all this month! (Note that you can still nominate artists if you haven't already, just check my previous journal!)

Note that I'll still be generally online, I'll just be trying to destress a little and reflect on the year as a whole to try and ensure I'm fresh and ready for 2010!

And... yeah, it's rejected. Ms. Treasurer said the Boss kinda disapproved it. In case I wonder why it's rejected, I should ask him straightly.

Until I find a way to get a steady internet access again, I'll have to be online only on sunday mornings, starting 10am (GMT+3) and for two to four hours max. I do connect for a short time on saturdays though, to download the week's e-mails and post on LJ.

As this feature has been running for well over a year now and has featured over 50 artists across Deviantart & FurAffinity so far I thought that for 2010 I would try something different in terms of how I select the artists to highlight here...

Basically this month I will be accepting nominations for artists to be featured each week here starting Jan 2010 onwards (i.e. following my winter holiday break!)

In order to nominate an artist you just need to comment here with their DeviantArt or FurAffinity alias (e.g. notveryathletic @ FurAffinity) and I'll take it from there!

The following guidelines apply though to regulate things a little:

- You can only nominate 3 artists in total

- You cannot nominate yourself

- The artist nominated should have submissions in their gallery which they have either worked on fully themselves and/or at least collaborated on with other artists (i.e. they are featured for their own work, not for work they have received from other artists!)

- The artist should have at least 10 submissions which they have either worked on fully themselves and/or at least collaborated on with other artists (i.e. they have a range of submissions for me to choose from to be featured in the journal!)

- The artist nominated should have less than roughly 1,200 watchers as of December 2009 on that specific site (i.e. they are relatively unknown in comparison to mainstream artists there!)

- The artist nominated should have submitted at least 3 of their own works and/or collaborations in the last 6 months (i.e. they are still relatively active here!)

At the end of December I will then compile all the nominations and pick one randomly each week to be featured!
